Also, because long-range transport (either trucks or creating more drone bases) is a very end-game tech (and not as effective as it should be), bringing resources to your main base is slow and requires a lot of patience. However, it's still a little unbalanced and some recipes are really hard to plan. Also, the mechanic of every "resource consumer" (for example, smelter) having an exit conveyor, allowing the surplus to be used by the next building, is really neat and simplifies a lot of recipes, compared to other similar games. It's well polished even in early access, few to none bugs, and enough content to play a lot of hours trying to optimize your base.

(I hope not.) It would have been really helpful if there were console commands or other cheats just to get me by this one spot, but I couldn't find any, unfortunately.Ī really interesting and fun game, with factorio-like mechanics, but some other of its own which makes it refreshing and challenging. That's where I'm at in the campaign, so I don't know if there are further timed objectives. I wasn't at all ready for it and while I might have still been able to keep going and finished the mission, it was very frustrating, so I ended up restarting it after having spent a couple of hours on it the first time. Playing the second campaign mission, you're unexpectedly put on a (long) timer. There is a campaign mode with a story line and a few missions, several puzzle scenarios, and a custom mode where you can customize a world a little bit - turn off enemies and change resource levels a little.īut I do have one very big complaint.

The free moving top down view is a nice change up from most of the genre.

It desperately needs tooltips for everything, and more ability to assign tasks to the keyboard. The interface is definitely a mobile port, and it's very annoying at first and remains a little annoying throughout. Logistics is limited but adequate - it really needs an overflow/underflow splitter, though. And you pretty much use every product in a chain, not just one or two. It has a few resources with lots of resource/goods chains.

If you need a factory fix, this is a good and inexpensive choice. So I really wanted to play the campaign through, but only got 33% or so of the way there.įirst let me say that the method of laying conveyors and power lines is one of the best I've ever used, and I've played most every game I can find for building factories. There is a custom game mode where you can start without monsters and/or meters, but that mode has no story line and no fixed goals. If you get frustrated by things like I'm describing, give this game a pass. And which are relatively slow to build, and you also have to run power to them and make ammo (which is supplied by drones).Īfter about the 8th night of the creatures destroying numerous buildings and infrastructure, I gave up on the game. But in this game, at least for a very long time, the only defenses are fixed turrets which don't do much damage. In Mindustry or Factorio, you have a last line of defense, in that you can personally go zap the bad guys. It's next to impossible to develop new resources because you can't defend them. No matter where you build defenses, the critters will come from a different place than the last time to attack your buildings, with no way to stop them except when enough of the buildings eventually blow up. You are constantly running out of resources. You have constant meteor strikes, which more often than not destroy your irreplaceable forests. Trying to get through the second mission was an exercise in total frustration. I have changed my recommendation to negative after playing a little bit after that. I wish I hadn't wasted my time with this game! If that was an isolated occurrence I would have been fine with it, but it's not, the meteors seem to target mostly the only two resources that are normally renewable and that take some effort to make renewable. But then I had two meteors in a row fall in my first irrigated forests and destroying (irreplaceably) most of the area I'd just laboriously finished. Things were going well and I thought maybe I finally was going to get through the second mission (of four). I thought I'd give the game one more try after two very frustrating attempts. I've played this several hours now offline.
